The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A hand-function assessment device (100) comprises a housing configured to simulate a drinking vessel, a lid (101) coupled to the housing, a first force-sensitive resistor pad (102) and a second force-sensitive resistor pad (103) configured to generate grip-force signals, and an inertial measurement unit (106) configured to generate motion signals. A processor (107) is coupled to the force-sensitive resistor pads (102, 103), the inertial measurement unit (106), and a memory storing executable instructions that cause the processor (107) to acquire the grip-force signals and the motion signals simultaneously during a single user interaction, determine a grip-force parameter, a motion-frequency parameter, a motion-amplitude parameter, and an orientation parameter, and generate assessment data, thereby providing an objective assessment of hand function without requiring a body-worn sensing device.
