MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110794 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 15, 2026, for A System And Method For Neural Stimulation-Artifact Suppression Using Double-Layer Charge Sensing And Feedforward Cancellation.

Inventors include I. S. Rajay Vedaraj; and P N Bhargav Teja.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) and method for suppressing stimulation artifacts in a neural recording front-end using differential double-layer charge sensing, in-situ constant-phase-element modeling, analog feedforward cancellation, and charge-referenced adaptive residual cancellation. The system (100) has a neural recording front-end (102), an auxiliary charge-sensing arrangement (106) with first and second non-stimulating reference microelectrodes (108, 110), charge-sensing circuitry (112), a differential combiner (114), a calibration circuit (116), a controller (118), an in-situ constant-phase-element model-fitting circuit (122), an artifact prediction circuit (126), a cancellation-control circuit (128), an analog cancellation circuit (130), a recording amplifier (132), and an adaptive residual-cancellation filter (136). The differential charge-sense signal supports electrode-interface model estimation and residual cancellation. The system (100) predicts stimulation-artifact voltage from a commanded stimulation-current waveform and applies an analog cancellation signal before amplification to limit recording-amplifier saturation.
