MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100732 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University on August 20, 2026, for A System And Method For Multimodal Yoga And Sleep Mat Health Monitoring And Therapeutic Feedback.
Inventors include Dr. Neel Mani; Dr. Rudra Bhandari; and Rishabh Mandal.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to smart health-monitoring mats for yoga, rest, and sleep, and discloses a flexible mat substrate carrying a pressure sensor array, piezoelectric sensors, a capacitive touch sensor arrangement, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, and an inertial measurement unit, all coupled to a microcontroller unit with wireless communication and a feedback and response layer. Synchronized multimodal data are processed in a real-time analysis environment having a hierarchical activity-state gate for classifying active yoga, passive rest, or sleep, followed by modality-specific feature extraction and a Cross-Modal Attention Fusion Engine that dynamically weights sensor contributions. The system provides posture recognition and correction, respiration estimation, heart-rate and heart-rate-variability based stress analysis, sleep tracking, adaptive coaching, and corrective or therapeutic haptic, vibration, audio, visual, or application-based outputs. The invention advances existing mats by integrating non-wearable physiological and biomechanical monitoring with context-aware fusion and personalized feedback.
