Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MULTI-STAGE AI-BASED PROCESSING OF HISTORICAL MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENTS The present disclosure relates to a computer-implemented system (100) and method (200) for multi-stage AI-based processing of historical manuscript documents. The system comprises an input interface (102), at least one processor (104) coupled with memory, and an output interface (106). The processor sequentially executes an image enhancement module for degradation- adaptive preprocessing, an OCR module for extracting machine-readable text, a contextual correction module for resolving OCR- induced errors, a historical language normalization module for converting archaic linguistic constructs into standardized modern representations, and a translation module for generating translated text in a target language. Each module exclusively processes outputs from a preceding module to minimize propagation of recognition and linguistic errors. The processor further performs semantic consistency validation using embedding-based similarity analysis and selectively reprocesses inconsistent text. The system operates iteratively on a per-page basis and generates structured outputs including normalized text, translated text, and metadata for archival, research, and digital heritage applications.
