Inventors include Gugana Shri G; Devika P; Keerthana R; Divya R; Epsiba K; Kanimozhi E; Vivekanandha College Of Engineering For Women; Manikandan T; and Rajeshwari G.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to assistive mobility devices for visually impaired persons, and more particularly to an AI-enabled smart blind stick integrating an ESP32 controller, ultrasonic sensors, Time-of-Flight sensors, an MPU6050 sensor, a soil monitoring sensor, an AI camera module, a voice-assistance unit, a vibration motor, a multimode switch, a GPS module, a GSM communication module, a battery holder, and a buck converter. Compared with conventional blind sticks and single-sensor electronic aids, the disclosed system provides improved environmental perception by combining obstacle detection, ground-level and surface-condition sensing, movement and orientation monitoring, AI-based object or condition recognition, and user-selectable operating modes. The controller processes sensor inputs to deliver tactile and audible guidance, and selectively provides geographical location and emergency notification to a predefined recipient. The invention is principally useful for safer navigation, obstacle avoidance, situational awareness, and emergency support during walking assistance for visually impaired users.
