Abstract: A computer-implemented system (100) and method (200) for hybrid evaluation (LitCultScore) of literary machine-translation quality is disclosed. The system receives a source literary text in an Indian language (preferably Telugu) and one or more candidate translations. It computes four component scores — Semantic Fidelity (306), Figurative and Stylistic Preservation (316), Cultural Resonance (326) using a cultural knowledge module (112), and Aesthetic-Emotional Alignment (336). These scores are aggregated using learned weights to produce a final hybrid evaluation score that correlates more strongly with human literary judgment than existing evaluation metrics. The invention is particularly useful for evaluation of translations of Telugu poetry and culturally rich literary texts.
