Abstract: The invention relates to railway energy harvesting systems, and more particularly to a system and method for converting train-induced airflow around a railway coach body into electrical energy. The system comprises a railway coach body, a plurality of turbine modules mounted along longitudinal roof-edge regions, each module including a micro vertical-axis wind turbine, an aerodynamic Venturi duct having an inlet section, converging section, throat region, and outlet section, a generator, a housing, and a structural support arrangement. Airflow entering the inlet section accelerates toward the throat region to drive the blade assembly, whereupon the generator produces electrical energy processed through an electrical conversion chain including a rectifier unit, a direct current conversion and regulation unit, an energy storage unit, and a load distribution unit. An electronic control unit, responsive to a sensor system, regulates output, adjustable pitch where provided, and protective isolation or shutdown of selected turbine modules.
