Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) and method for hardware-calibrated static source-code energy estimation. A hardware calibration subsystem (112) executes predetermined energy-inefficient reference operations and corresponding optimized reference operations on a computing device (102) and derives hardware- specific calibration factors from measured execution-time ratios. A static source-code scanner (118) detects energy-inefficient source-code patterns without executing a target application. A category-specific energy-estimation engine (124) applies corresponding energy-estimation parameters and hardware-specific calibration factors to generate estimated energy-waste values. The hardware-specific calibration factors further modify static energy weights used by a sustainability-score engine (126) to generate a bounded source-code-size-normalized project-level sustainability score. A diagnostic interface (128) presents source-level estimated energy-waste information and optimization recommendations within an integrated development environment.
