MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611116387 A) filed by Vivekananda Institute Of Professional Studies - Technical Campus on September 29, 2026, for A System And Method For Geospatial Deforestation Detection And Climate Impact Assessment.

Inventors include Deepika Rawat; Arushi Singh; Parul; and Amrita Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to geospatial analytics, remote sensing, and machine-learning-based environmental assessment, and more particularly to a system and method for detecting deforestation, attributing likely causes, and analyzing climate stress for a selected area. A user selection stage receives an area of interest, and a coordinate conversion block generates a machine-readable spatial descriptor used commonly by an imagery retrieval block and a climate relation evaluation block. Retrieved satellite imagery is pre-processed and divided by a patch formation and model input block into 64 × 64 image patches with positional metadata, which are processed by a machine-learning cause identification stage including a cause prediction block to identify deforestation-cause categories. A final output block aggregates patch-level outputs, determines deforestation extent, and combines the same with rainfall, temperature, and carbon-related indicators to generate an integrated output including a climate-stress association.
