Abstract: A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXPLAINABLE MEDICAL IMAGE ANALYSIS USING ATTENTION MECHANISMS AND MARINE PREDATOR-BASED OPTIMIZATION The invention discloses a computer implemented system and method for explainable medical image analysis, particularly for brain tumor classification from MRI scans. The system integrates a Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture for extracting global spatial features, a Marine Predators Algorithm (MPA) for automated hyperparameter optimization, and an explainability module based on Gradient weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad CAM). Preprocessed MRI images are partitioned into patches, embedded with positional encodings, and processed through multi head self attention blocks to capture both local and global dependencies. The MPA optimizer enhances model performance by tuning critical parameters such as learning rate, attention heads, and patch size, while Grad CAM generates heatmaps that highlight influential regions of the image, providing transparent visual explanations of predictions. This hybrid framework achieves high diagnostic accuracy with reduced computational overhead and ensures interpretability, making it suitable for deployment in clinical environments and integration with hospital PACS systems.
