MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641114203 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 24, 2026, for A System And Method For Cpu-Affinity-Based Process-Isolated Internet Of Things Data Processing In Fog Computing.

Inventors include Dr. Swarnalatha P; Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Raichur Mohammed; Mr. Ramyash Gupta; and Mr. Syed Rayyan Azeez.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) and method for CPU-affinity-based assignment of independent processing stages, bounded inter-process queue communication, transition-based cloud forwarding, adaptive edge-device reporting control, and version-based suppression of repeated command execution. The system (100) comprises at least one edge device (102) and a fog node (104) communicatively associated with the at least one edge device (102). The system (100) applies concurrency control between sensing and communication tasks at an edge device during reporting-rate modification and command-version state modification. The system (100) assigns a stable event identifier to a cloud-forwarded event and suppresses duplicate cloud storage during repeated cloud-transmission attempts. The system (100) supports deployment on general-purpose multi-core fog hardware and network-connected edge microcontrollers across increasing concurrent telemetry loads.
