MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441097680 A) filed by Stellantis Auto Sas on December 10, 2024, for A System And Method For Controlling An Exterior Rear-View Mirror For A Vehicle.

Inventors include Nareanthiran Narayanan Srinivasan; Deepak Kumaran; and Saravanan Karunakaran.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system (100) for controlling an exterior rear-view mirror (104) for a vehicle (102) to minimize blind spots and enhance driver visibility. The system (100) comprises a passenger sensor unit (202) to measure and transmit passenger data to a visibility control module (106). A position sensor unit (204) measures and transmits position data of the vehicle (102) to the visibility control module (106). The visibility control module (106) processes the received data using predefined conditions and machine learning algorithms to calculate an optimal mirror position and transmits the calculated position to a body control module (206). The body control module (206) converts the calculated position into an actuation signal for the actuator (208), which controls the exterior rear-view mirror (104) dynamically, ensuring regulatory compliance and improved safety.
