Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTACTLESS FALL DETECTION, VITAL-SIGN ESTIMATION, SEVERITY SCORING, AND ALERT GENERATION The present invention relates to a contactless monitoring system and method for detecting falls, estimating post-fall vital signs, determining emergency severity, and generating alerts. A video-acquisition module captures image frames of a monitored person, and a pose-estimation module extracts skeletal landmarks, body orientation, movement velocity, and body-centre information. A fall-candidate detection engine identifies a suspected fall, while a post-fall verification module confirms the event using floor-level posture persistence, immobility, recovery movement, and visibility information. Upon verification, an event-trigger controller selectively activates contactless heart-rate and respiratory-rate estimation using facial photoplethysmographic variations and thoracic movement. An adaptive emergency severity module combines fall characteristics, physiological abnormalities, recovery status, patient context, and confidence values to determine a risk category. An alert-generation module routes risk-dependent notifications to caregivers, healthcare personnel, or emergency responders, monitors acknowledgement, and escalates unacknowledged alerts. The invention reduces false alarms, preserves privacy, lowers computational demand, and enables timely, condition-aware emergency response.
