Abstract: The invention relates to predictive maintenance for industrial assets using digital twins, IoT sensing, and causal inference. A physical asset (100) is monitored by an IoT-enabled sensing layer (110) with sensors (112), and real-time operational data is communicated through communication infrastructure (200) to a data acquisition and synchronization module (300), which aligns sensor observations with timestamped intervention records from an intervention detection and logging mechanism (400) and an intervention history database (500). A causal inference engine (600) continuously generates and updates a cause-effect model (610) that distinguishes causal dependencies from mere statistical associations based on actual field interventions. A dynamic digital twin (700) uses the learned causal relationships and physical constraints to support simulation and predictive analytics engine (800) outputs and maintenance recommendations from module (900). The feedback loop (950) updates the twin using verified intervention outcomes, improving degradation prediction and remaining useful life estimation. Fig. 1.
