MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611098970 A) filed by Thapar Institute Of Engineering And Technology on August 16, 2026, for A System And Method For Blockchain-Based Lifecycle Tracking And Sustainability Scoring In Agri- Food Supply Chains.
Inventors include Dr. Tarunpreet Bhatia; Dr. Anandika Sharma; Dr. Anupam Sharma; and Pushan Aggarwal.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to agri-food supply chain management and, more particularly, to an AgriBlock system (100) that employs a Ethereum 2.0 blockchain network (120, 148) integrated with an Internet of Things sensor network (201) comprising soil moisture sensors, temperature sensors, humidity sensors and storage- condition monitors. Sensor payloads and product metadata are stored off-chain in an IPFS node (126, 204) and their content identifiers recorded on-chain via smart contracts including a registration smart contract (206), sensor data smart contract (205), item management smart contract (160), purchase order smart contracts (150, 152), a prediction smart contract (215) and a green token incentive smart contract. A decentralized application front end (128, 203) authenticates stakeholders via an Aadhaar-based oracle, enables QR-code and voice-enabled scanning, and displays provenance and sustainability scores, while an AI engine (168, 214) generates predictive outputs for dynamic pricing and demand forecasts, recorded on-chain for stakeholder access.
