MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611073864 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Kanpur on June 12, 2026, for A System And Method For Bidirectional Thermoelectric Temperature Control For Chemical Synthesis And Controlled-Atmosphere Applications.

Inventors include Dr. Bhavesh N. Socha; Jignesh Valand; Antrakrate Gupta; and Shikhar Krishn Jha.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermal control systems for chemical synthesis and controlled-atmosphere processing, and particularly to a bidirectional thermoelectric temperature control system comprising a thermoelectric module, a working platform in thermal communication with a first face of the thermoelectric module, a heat- rejection block in thermal communication with a second face thereof, a coolant circulation subsystem having a reservoir, pump, and conduit system, a temperature sensor, a digital temperature controller, a polarity-reversal switching unit, a primary power supply, and an environmental chamber defining a controlled processing space. The controller regulates power based on comparison of measured and setpoint temperatures, while the switching unit reverses current direction to selectively provide heating or cooling. Optional thermal interface layers, clamping assemblies, monitoring interfaces, and chamber gas/vacuum ports enable stable thermal contact, heat removal, data handling, and operation under atmospheric, reduced-pressure, vacuum, inert, or reactive gas conditions.
