Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for bidirectional signal isolation over a single communication channel using optical components and mode switching logic. It eliminates the need for dual optocouplers, splitters, and combiners, simplifying hardware design while maintaining high-voltage isolation up to 5kV. The system enables reliable communication between master and slave devices in half-duplex protocols such as I2C and UART, operating efficiently with low-voltage control signals (3.3V/5V). Optical isolation using IR LEDs ensures accurate signal replication and enhanced integrity. The system is compact, cost-effective, and reduces signal noise, offering a high-performance alternative to traditional isolation methods. (FIG. 3)
