Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (100) and a method (200) for automated patient-zone-based hand-hygiene compliance monitoring and feedback. The system (100) comprises a wearable smart badge (102), a patient-zone sensing unit (106), a smart sanitizer dispenser module (114), and a controller (112). The patient-zone sensing unit (106) detects entry, exit, or presence of a healthcare worker within a patient-care zone (154), and the controller (112) initiates a predefined compliance window. An event-correlation module (122) correlates a badge identifier, a patient-zone event, and a sanitizer-dispensing event. A compliance-verification module (124) determines whether hand hygiene is performed within the compliance window. Upon expiry of the compliance window without a correlated sanitizer-dispensing event, a feedback-control module (126) actuates a haptic actuator (128) to provide a private reminder. A compliance-classification module (132) classifies the hand- hygiene opportunity as compliant, reminder-compliant, or non-compliant.
