Abstract: ABSTRACT “A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ATTRIBUTE-BASED ACCESS CONTROL IN INTERNET OF THINGS ENVIRONMENT USING BLOCKCHAIN AND MESSAGE QUEUING” A distributed Internet of Things (IoT) access control system (100) and a computer-implemented method (200) for attribute-based access control (ABAC) in an IoT environment are disclosed. The system (100) comprises one or more IoT devices (102), one or more message queues (108), a device management module (104), a user management module (106), a blockchain network (110) comprising a plurality of smart contracts (112) storing ABAC policies, a database management module (114), and one or more databases (116). The one or more message queues (108) receive, buffer, persist, and asynchronously deliver one or more access requests and deliver an acknowledgement signal upon processing. The plurality of smart contracts (112) evaluates each access request to generate an authorization decision to permit or restrict access to IoT data, and an immutable transaction entry is recorded on a shared immutable ledger of the blockchain network (110) for auditable access control [Figure 1]
