Abstract: Disclosed is a system (100) for application-specific integrated circuit-based hardware ladder-logic control of a manual lathe machine. The system (100) includes mode arbitration logic (102), a MAN-over-AUTO priority module (104), a manual bypass path (106), a hardware on-delay timer counter (108), an undefined-mode lockout module (110), a control register (112), a common sequential control interface (114), a control output pin (116), an external relay or contactor (118), a spindle or clutch motor (120), and unused dedicated-output and bidirectional pins (122). The system (100) implements fixed synthesized sequential hardware without software-based ladder-logic execution. The manual-mode selection signal overrides an ongoing automatic timing sequence and clears the timer counter (108), while the automatic- mode selection signal permits motor engagement only after expiry of a predefined timer preset. The undefined-mode lockout module (110) maintains the control register (112) in a cleared state when neither operating mode is selected, thereby preventing unintended motor energization.
