MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611115519 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University on September 26, 2026, for A System And Method For Anaerobic Microbial Cultivation With Oxygen Monitoring And Alerting.
Inventors include Dr. Vishal Rajput; Dr. Vibhor Sharma; Dr. Charu Sharma; Divya Arya; Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Choudhary; and Dr. Vivek Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to microbiological cultivation systems for establishing and maintaining anaerobic conditions for growth of strict anaerobes and other oxygen- sensitive microorganisms. A main chamber body [1] closed by a top lid [2] with a silicon ring seal [9] forms an airtight enclosure for Petri dishes or culture media, while an LPG burner [3] consumes residual oxygen within the enclosure. An oxygen sensor device [4], coupled through a sensor and processor connector [5] to an external processing unit [6], continuously measures oxygen concentration and compares it with a predetermined threshold, including below about 0.5% oxygen for strict anaerobes. The processing unit [6] provides real-time chamber-state indication through a red LED indicator [10], a green LED indicator [11], and buzzer [12] for leakage or persistent oxygen presence, thereby improving reliability over conventional anaerobic jars lacking continuous oxygen verification. The system is useful for laboratory cultivation and monitoring of anaerobic microbial cultures.
