MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105017 A) filed by Dr. M. G. R. Educational & Research Institute on September 01, 2026, for A System And A Method Of Wearable Antenatal Monitoring Of Maternal And Fetal Health.
Inventors include Antu P Mariyam; Thenesha. K; and Hema Vh.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a system (100) for continuously monitoring maternal and fetal health parameters during pregnancy. The system (100) includes a wearable antenatal belt unit (102), a sensor system (104), a fetal heart-rate sensor (106), a fetal-movement sensor (108), a maternal heart-rate sensor (110), a maternal temperature sensor (112), and a uterine-contraction sensor (114). A microcontroller unit (116) receives and conditions sensor signals, and a data-processing unit (118) extracts physiological parameters, analyses trends, and compares the parameters with predefined safety thresholds. A communication module (120) wirelessly transmits the processed parameters to a mobile application (122) for real-time display, storage, and trend presentation. An alert and notification system (124) generates an alert upon detection of an abnormal condition, while a remote healthcare-provider interface (126) provides authorised access to the monitored parameters. The system enables simultaneous, non-invasive, home-based antenatal monitoring and timely communication of maternal or fetal abnormalities. Fig. 1 is the reference figure.
