MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126650 A) filed by Vels Institute Of Science, Technology And Advanced Studies Vistas on October 23, 2026, for A System And A Method Of Simulating Bone Marrow Aspiration And Biopsy.

Inventors include Anil Reddy Konduru; Shilpa Gupta; and Vijayashree Raghavan.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system (100) for simulating bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy procedures using an anatomical bi-cortical pelvic phantom. The system (100) comprises a pelvic base chassis (102), a palpable soft tissue pad (104), a cortical bone shell (106), a gyroid cancellous bone structure (108), a replaceable biopsy insert (110), a fluidic marrow reservoir (112), an anatomical landmark region (114), and a synthetic marrow fluid (116). The pelvic base chassis (102) reproduces an adult human hemipelvis, while the palpable soft tissue pad (104) facilitates anatomical landmark identification. The cortical bone shell (106) and the gyroid cancellous bone structure (108) provide differentiated mechanical resistance and tactile feedback during biopsy needle advancement. The fluidic marrow reservoir (112) enables simulated marrow aspiration through withdrawal of the synthetic marrow fluid (116). The replaceable biopsy insert (110) facilitates repeated trephine biopsy training. The system (100) provides realistic, reusable, and cost-effective procedural training for healthcare professionals.
