MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108552 A) filed by Vels Institute Of Science, Technology And Advanced Studies Vistas on September 09, 2026, for A System And A Method Of Iot-Based Smart Irrigation For Efficient Agricultural Water Management.

Inventor includes G R Sarvesh.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system (100) for IoT-based smart irrigation and agricultural water management. The system (100) comprises a soil moisture sensor (102) configured to detect soil moisture data, a temperature and humidity sensor (104) configured to detect environmental condition data, a microcontroller (106) configured to process data, a relay module (108), a water pump or motor (110), a Wi-Fi communication module (112), a cloud server (114), a mobile or web user interface (116), a power supply unit (118), a moisture threshold comparison module (120), and a water optimization control module (122). The moisture threshold comparison module (120) compares the detected moisture level with a predetermined moisture threshold value. When the detected moisture level is below the threshold, the microcontroller (106) activates the relay module (108) to switch ON the water pump or motor (110). When sufficient moisture is detected, the pump is switched OFF, thereby reducing water wastage and labour.
