MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108554 A) filed by Vels Institute Of Science, Technology And Advanced Studies Vistas on September 09, 2026, for A System And A Method Of Emg-Based Gesture Control And Assistive Communication Applications.

Inventors include Jaison J; Lingesh P; and Gnaneshwaran S.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a wearable electromyography-based intelligent control and communication system (100) for enabling muscle-signal-based interaction with electronic devices. The system (100) comprises a wearable band (102), one or more surface electrodes (104), an electromyography sensor module (106), a microcontroller (108), a wireless communication module (110), a power management unit (112), a rechargeable battery (114), a gesture-processing module (120), a control logic module (122), and a mobile or desktop application (124). The surface electrodes (104) acquire muscular electrical signals, which are amplified, filtered, digitised, segmented, and analysed to extract signal features. The gesture-processing module (120) compares the extracted features with stored gesture profiles and generates a validated gesture identifier. The control logic module (122) maps the validated gesture identifier, according to an active operational mode, to a cursor-control command, an assistive communication command, or an appliance-control command. The system provides real-time, low-power, camera-independent, multi-functional assistive interaction while reducing unintended command generation. Fig. 1 is the reference figure.
