Abstract: Disclosed is a system (100) for verifying medication administration and preventing medication-administration errors. The system includes a barcode scanner (102), a barcode-enabled patient wristband (104), and a medication barcode label (106) for acquiring patient-identification information and medication-identification information. A central software system (108) receives the scanned information, while a central database (110) stores patient, prescription, medication, and administration records. A verification engine (112) retrieves the corresponding prescription record, compares the scanned information therewith, and validates the right patient, right drug, right dose, right time, and right route. Upon detecting a mismatch, an alert module (114) generates a real-time warning before administration. A nurse dashboard (116) presents the verification result and administration status. Upon successful verification, an electronic-health-record integration interface (118) automatically records the medication-administration event, and a cloud or server storage unit (120) stores verification, alert, and administration records for subsequent clinical review and audit, thereby supporting patient safety and traceability.
