MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113126 A) filed by Dr. M. G. R. Educational & Research Institute on September 21, 2026, for A System And A Method Of Ai-Based Emergency Vehicle Prediction And Green Corridor.

Inventors include Viji Vinod; Ranganathan Balathandayutham; S Anthony Mariya Kumari; and V Vaidehi.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is an AI-based multi-sensor emergency vehicle prediction and automatic green corridor traffic signal system (100) comprising an emergency vehicle subsystem (102), at least one traffic signal sensor unit (108), a centralized AI and control subsystem (116), a cloud management portal (122), a normal vehicle data module (124), and traffic signal controllers (126). An AI sensor fusion engine (118) time-synchronizes and fuses vehicle telemetry, IoT sensor data, visual information, acoustic information, road-network information, and traffic-condition information to confirm an emergency vehicle, determine its trajectory, predict its route, calculate dynamic estimated times of arrival at downstream intersections, and generate a confidence score. Based on the confidence score, a green corridor controller (120) coordinates successive traffic signals by extending or introducing green phases to establish a progressive green corridor. Continuous intersection feedback updates route predictions and signal timings, while passage confirmation initiates restoration of normal or adaptive traffic-signal operation.
