MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088869 A) filed by Gmr Energy Trading Limited; and Aispry Technologies Private Limited on July 21, 2026, for A System And A Method For Forecasting Electricity Prices.

Inventors include Amit Ailawadi; and Bharani Kumar Depuru.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A system (102) for forecasting electricity prices is disclosed. A data collection module (305) collects data including electricity market data, demand-supply data, renewable generation data, weather data, temporal data, and historical electricity price data. A data management module (310) validates and stores the data in a database. A feature extraction module (315) generates a plurality of features by applying lag-based transformations, rolling statistical computations, and dimensionality reduction using principal component analysis. The plurality of features includes time-based features, price-based features, and exogenous features. A hybrid forecasting module (320) analyses the plurality of features using a plurality of models to identify trend and temporal patterns and generate intermediate electricity price forecasts with corresponding confidence scores. A spike detection module (325) generates a spike probability using a gradient boosting classifier. A prediction output module (330) generates a final electricity price forecast by combining the intermediate electricity price forecasts using a meta-model. FIG. 3
