Abstract: The current disclosure pertains to a system and method for delivering adaptive, direction-specific eccentric training utilizing a controlled resistance roller. The system has a cylindrical housing, a central shaft, a one-way clutch assembly, a hybrid resistance module, a sensing interface, a processor, and a predictive safety module. The one-way clutch is set up to engage when the vehicle is moving in reverse, creating resistance only during the eccentric phase. When the vehicle is moving forward, it can rotate freely. The hybrid resistance module has parts that create friction, magnetic resistance, and damping to give you smooth and controlled resistance. The sensing interface picks up on torque and motion parameters, which lets the processor change the resistance in real time based on what it sees. The predictive safety module uses a slip clutch mechanism to stop overloads. The system allows for controlled, safe, and measurable eccentric muscle training for rehabilitation and strength conditioning in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
