Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR AUTOMATED MECHANICAL LOAD-PATH IDENTIFICATION, ADAPTIVE LOAD REDISTRIBUTION, AND STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS The present disclosure provides an automated system and method of mechanical load-path identification, load redistribution, and structural performance analysis. The system is composed of distributed structural sensors, a diagnostic excitation device, controllable load transfer actuators and a processor. The processor validates and compensates for sensed structural responses, controls the application of a coded mechanical excitation and analyses the propagation of the resulting response to reconstruct and verify an actual load-transfer path. To determine an applied load and structural performance, physical equilibrium, geometry, material, support and deformation constraints are enforced. Upon confirmation of an unsafe load concentration by a confidence criterion, the processor determines an alternative load path having sufficient reserve capacity and incrementally actuates selected actuators to redistribute the load. Following each actuation, a measured response is compared to an expected safe response to continue, limit, reverse, or terminate further actuation. The system reduces stress concentration, stabilises load transfer and prevents progressive structural failure.
