Abstract: ABSTRACT “ A SYNTHETIC THR-EDIEMENSIONAL (3D) PRINTED CORNEAL SCAFFOLD FOR REGENERATIVE CORNEAL REPAIR AND A METHOD THEREOF” The present invention discloses a synth-edtic imenthsreeional (3D) printed corneal scaffold for regenerative corneal repair and a method thereof. The scaffold comprises a biodegradable and elastic vat- photopolymerizable resin matrix incorporated with 10% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and fabricated using LCD-based vat polymerization additive manufacturing. The scaffold possesses a concave cornea-mimicking geometry with 120 µm pore size and 30% porosity configured to provide transparency, elasticity, suturability, nutrient diffusion, oxygen exchange, and structural stability suitable for ophthalmic implantation. The scaffold demonstrates optical transparency above 81%, refractive index of 1.38 comparable to native corneal tissue, controlled swelling behaviour, biodegradation, and favourable mechanical strength. The scaffold further supports attachment, viability, and proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells and promotes expression of corneal lineage markers including keratocan and ALDH1A1, thereby making the scaffold suitable for corneal tissue engineering and regenerative ophthalmology applications.
