MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611003779 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on January 14, 2026, for A Synergistic Anti-Leishmanial Composition And A Method Of Preparation Thereof.
Inventors include Vikash Kumar Dubey; Pranjal Chandra; and Naveena Menpadi.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a synergistic anti-leishmanial composition for effective management of Leishmania donovani. Moreover, the composition manages the drug-resistant leishmaniasis by mutually targeting the parasite survival pathways, thereby facilitating 50% inhibitory effect on the unresponsive promastigotes after 48 hours of treatment. The anti-leishmanial composition further mediates autophagy through increasing production of autophagic vacuoles and acidic organelles, thus resulting in greater efficacy at lower dosages and reducing drug unresponsiveness.
