Abstract: The present invention introduces an eco-friendly method for removing microplastics from wastewater using green-synthesized iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles. The process begins with preparing a plant extract from Solanum lycopersicum leaves, which act as natural reducing and stabilizing agents for metal oxide precursors. However, the resulting nanoparticles, with inherent magnetic properties, efficiently adsorb microplastics through hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions. In overall, this sustainable, scalable approach provides an environmentally safe solution for industrial wastewater treatment, addressing the growing issue of microplastic pollution.
