Abstract: The present invention relates to a sustainable biopolymer derived from coconut husk fibers (Cocos nucifera) for the removal of cationic dyes from aqueous solutions. The biopolymer is prepared through processes including fiber extraction, mercerization, and bleaching to enhance adsorption properties. Characterization techniques confirm increased surface area, porosity, and functional group availability. The biopolymer exhibits high efficiency in removing dyes such as methyl blue and safranine under optimized conditions. The adsorption process follows Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetics, indicating monolayer chemisorption. The invention provides an eco-friendly, cost-effective solution for wastewater treatment using agricultural waste materials.
