MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511019895 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organisation Drdo on March 05, 2025, for A Surface Modified Activated Carbon Fabric (s-Acf) And A Method For Its Preparation.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a surface modified activated carbon fabric (S-ACF) and a method for its preparation comprising: a) a carboxyl terminated activated carbon fabric (C-ACF); and b) a metal organic framework (MOF) comprising: i. a metal ion; and ii. an organic ligand: wherein the metal ion is selected from the group consisting of Mg, V, Cr, Mo, Zr, Hf, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Ni, Zn, Ru, Al, and Ga ions; wherein the organic ligand is selected from the group consisting of, terephthalate, benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate, 2,5-dioxibenzene dicarboxylate, biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate and derivatives thereof; and wherein the metal ion and the organic ligand assemble into the MOF; wherein the MOF is attached with the C-ACF through a chemical bond formed with the terminal carboxyl; and wherein the weight percentage of the MOF is in the range of 0.5 wt% to 15 wt% with respect to the total weight of the S-ACF.
