MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511013079 A) filed by Casey Aviation Private Limited on February 15, 2025, for A Supervisory-Governed Prerotation Torque Decoupling And Authority-Gated Control System For Autorotative Rotorcraft.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to a supervisory governed prerotation and rotor authority control system for autorotative rotorcraft. The system includes a rotor assembly (10) configured for free autorotation, a prerotation drive assembly (200), and a selectively engageable torque coupling (300) positioned between them. A supervisory control module (500) receives inputs from a sensor subsystem (600) including rotor speed sensing and weight on wheels validation, and permits engagement of the torque coupling only under verified ground phase interlocks. Upon transition to flight mode or detection of predefined faults, the supervisory control module commands deterministic disengagement, thereby preventing torque transfer during flight. A pitch or thrust vector modulation mechanism (400) may be authority gated to ensure safe prerotation, transition, and fail safe operation. Optional embodiments include an energy recovery subsystem comprising a generator (800) and energy storage (810) under supervisory isolation. The invention ensures reliable prerotation, deterministic torque decoupling, and enhanced safety across all operational states of autorotative rotorcraft.
