Abstract: ABSTRACT “A STYLUS-BASED COMPUTING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR RECONCILING LOW-LATENCY AND PERSISTENT DIGITAL INK” A stylus- based computing device (100) comprising a display screen (110), a stylus input interface (210) receiving input points of an active stroke from a stylus (120); a sequencing module (220) assigning a monotonically increasing sequence identifier to each input point; a low-latency renderer (230) rendering a temporary representation on a temporary layer (235), a persistent renderer (240) rendering the input points to a persistent surface (245) in parallel, a reconciliation coordinator (250) maintaining a commitment frontier that advances only to a highest contiguously confirmed sequence identifier and maintaining a retired frontier; a tail reconstruction module (260) generating a replacement temporary representation of the range beyond the commitment frontier, anchored at the commitment frontier, and a display transition module (270) performing the coordinated display transition, conditioned on a persistent confirmation, that makes the replacement temporary representation visible and retires the confirmed prefix while the stroke remains active, wherein the temporary layer (235) continues to display input points beyond the retired frontier when confirmation is delayed or absent.
