Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydroethanolic extract of Musa paradisiaca spathe (HAE-MP) and its pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications. The extract is prepared by ultrasonic-assisted extraction using ethanol-water (50:50 v/v) and exhibits the highest extraction yield (21.11%), greatest iron content (883.18 mg/kg), and most diverse phytochemical profile among tested solvent systems. GC-MS analysis reveals oxygenated hydrocarbons, nitrogen-containing heterocycles, and steroidal compounds. The extract demonstrates significant wound healing activity and anti-inflammatory effects through downregulation of IL-6 and TNF-alpha with concurrent IL-10 restoration. Safety is confirmed through OECD Guidelines 423 and 407 with no treatment-related toxicity. In a phenylhydrazine-induced anemia model, oral HAE-MP (500 mg/kg) significantly improves erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum iron, ferritin, and transferrin saturation while reducing oxidative stress markers. The invention provides a safe, sustainable botanical composition for iron deficiency anemia management.
