MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617085182 A) filed by Airsound Ltd on July 11, 2026, for A Sound System For Emulating Spatial Sound.
Inventors include Fletcher, Daniel John; and Fletcher, Edward Stuart.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: A sound system receives inputs representing virtual sound sources located at respective positions within a space relative to a listening position. A side loudspeaker unit of the system outputs a sound signal from one side directed sound along a first line in one direction and the same sound signal from an opposite side directed along the first line in the opposite direction, the two outputs being in antiphase. The first line extends perpendicularly to a second line extending from the side loudspeaker unit to the listening position. A further loudspeaker directs sound along a third line, different to the first line. A gain application unit applies a respective side gain to the or each input producing a modulated side input and a respective further gain to the or each input to product a modulated further input. The absolute value of the respective side gain is different to the absolute value of the respective further gain. The side loudspeaker unit is driven with the sum of each modulated side input, and the further loudspeaker is driven with the sum of each, modulated further input.
