The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to NASICON-type sodium iron phosphate pyrophosphate materials having the composition Na4Fe3(PO4)2P2O7 and methods for their preparation using combustion synthesis techniques are provided. The materials may be prepared by combining sodium-containing precursors, iron-containing precursors, and phosphorus-containing precursors with organic fuels to form a precursor mixture, followed by ignition to initiate a self-sustaining combustion reaction. The combustion synthesis method may provide advantages including reduced synthesis time, lower energy consumption, and improved phase purity compared to conventional solid-state synthesis approaches. The process may include an initial combustion step at 300°C in air followed by annealing at 500°C under reducing conditions for 10 hours. In-situ carbon coating formation during synthesis may enhance electronic conductivity. The resulting materials may exhibit enhanced electrochemical performance when used as cathode materials in sodium-ion batteries, including improved capacity retention and rate capability. Doping with copper or titanium may further optimize electrochemical properties through modifications to electronic structure and redox behavior. (Fig.1)
