Abstract: A SMART THERMO-CAPTURE GEL PAD FOR BULLET RETRIEVAL WITH INTEGRATED STRIATION PRESERVATION Abstract of the Invention The present invention relates to a smart thermo-capture gel pad for ballistic testing and forensic analysis, designed for retrieval of fired bullets while preserving microscopic striation marks and capturing thermal signatures generated during impact. The gel pad comprises a viscoelastic polymer matrix configured to decelerate projectiles with minimal deformation, along with embedded thermal sensors that record temperature variations during penetration. Microstructured or chemically enhanced regions ensure preservation of bullet surface striations for accurate forensic examination. A data acquisition module enables storage and transmission of thermal and ballistic data for analysis. The system is reusable and compatible with forensic imaging techniques, improving accuracy in firearm identification, terminal ballistics studies, and forensic investigations while enabling integrated structural and thermal data capture from a single recovery medium.
