Abstract: ABSTRACT [0027] A dual-mode virtual mouse is presented that allows a computer to be operated entirely through hand gestures and voice commands. Live video from an ordinary webcam is processed by MediaPipe to locate twenty-one hand landmarks; distances, angles and binary encodings derived from these landmarks identify gestures that move the cursor, perform left or right clicks, scroll, or adjust brightness. Simultaneously, speech is captured by a microphone, converted to text by a recognition library, and mapped to the same set of mouse actions. Kalman filtering smooths rapid hand motion, while visual and auditory feedback confirm every recognized command. The combined pipeline runs in real time on standard hardware and has been shown to deliver reliable control under ordinary indoor lighting, offering an accessible alternative for users with limited mobility or for anyone seeking a touch-free interface.
