Abstract: The present invention describes an AI-based crowd monitoring and alert system designed to detect, count, and analyze crowd density in real time using video surveillance data. The system aims to enhance public safety by identifying overcrowding conditions and enabling timely preventive actions. The system captures video input from surveillance cameras and processes the data using preprocessing techniques such as frame extraction, resizing, and noise reduction to prepare it for analysis. The invention employs a deep learning–based object detection model, specifically YOLO (You Only Look Once), to identify human presence in each frame and generate bounding boxes around detected individuals. The detected outputs are used to perform accurate headcount estimation, providing real-time information about the number of people present in a defined area. A dynamic crowd capacity evaluation mechanism is introduced, which compares the real-time headcount with a predefined threshold limit. This approach provides an effective measure of crowd density and helps in identifying potential overcrowding situations. The system further incorporates an automated alert framework that generates visual and audio notifications when the detected crowd exceeds safe occupancy levels. This enables authorities to take immediate action and prevent hazardous situations such as congestion or stampedes.
