Abstract: The present invention discloses a pneumatic angle bending machine featuring a Single-Operator Portable Pneumatic Actuation System with interchangeable V-type tooling for sheet metal and rod bending operations. Conventional bending machines predominantly employ hydraulic actuation systems that, while capable of high force output, are characterized by substantial structural mass, complex pump-and-valve manifolds, high procurement cost, and mandatory two-operator workflow. These characteristics render hydraulic benders economically and spatially prohibitive for small-scale fabrication enterprises, educational workshops, and intermittent job-shop environments. The core novelty lies in replacing the hydraulic power pack and cylinder assembly with a pneumatically-driven double-acting cylinder controlled through a manually-operated 5/2 directional control valve, enabling single-operator bending of low-thickness metallic sheets and rods up to 2mm thickness. The apparatus integrates a rigid mild steel base frame with a verticallyoriented supporting frame that provides clearance for easy workpiece insertion and removal. A Vtype punch tool, attached to the piston rod end, mates with a corresponding V-shaped anvil mounted on the base, producing precise angular bends through controlled pneumatic pressure application. The invention addresses the pressing need for an economical, lightweight, and portable bending solution operable by a single worker. The total fabrication cost is approximately Z4,500, representing a significant cost reduction compared to hydraulic alternatives. The machine operates on compressed air between 0.5 to 1.0 bar pressure, requires no electrical power at the point of operation, and can function with IC-engine-driven compressors where grid electricity is unavailable. Interchangeable tooling fixtures enable multiple bend geometries, while the manual joystick control provides intuitive operator command with minimal training requirements.
