Abstract: The present invention relates to the shape memory polymer composite based Electromagnet-driven reset mechanism enabled system for early detection of heat and smoke. More specifically, present invention relates to the simple and cost-effective early heat/fire alarm system that employs a one-way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite for activation of the alarm (set configuration) and the combination of permanent magnet and electromagnet to bring the system to the original position (reset configuration) by pulling the SMP composite. The system uses a shape memory polymer (SMP) composite placed between the IR transmitter and receiver, which triggers an alarm by breaking the optical path upon reaching a temperature greater than glass transition temperature (Tg) of 55°C due to heat/fire. The system is designed for various applications and offering enhanced safety in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
