MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541107888 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on November 07, 2025, for A Sensor-Integrated Wearable Aerosol Delivery Device For Aerosol Therapy And Method Of Enabling Thereof.
Inventors include Vijayendra Gurav; and Rohit Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable aerosol delivery device for aerosol therapy and method of enabling thereof. The wearable aerosol delivery device integrates a piezoelectric mesh aerosolization unit, a liquid delivery unit, a medication reservoir, a power management unit, a processing unit, a liquid level sensor, a battery gauge sensor, an airflow sensor and an inhalation interface within a compact hands-free form factor having a total weight not exceeding 70g. The airflow sensor detects an inhalation event and transmits an inhalation trigger signal to the processing unit, which activates the piezoelectric mesh aerosolization unit to generate fine droplets for lower respiratory tract deposition. The liquid level sensor deactivates the piezoelectric mesh aerosolization unit upon detection of a low medication level, preventing dry operation. The processing unit incorporates a Bluetooth Low Energy communication interface for wireless synchronisation of session data with a remote device for therapy scheduling and real-time monitoring.
