MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641085261 A) filed by Manu Asthana; Priyankar Sen; and Debashis Maji on July 12, 2026, for A Sensor-Integrated Smart Sanitary Pad For Real-Time Menstrual Fluid Saturation Monitoring.
Inventors include Manu Asthana; Priyankar Sen; and Debashis Maji.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Abstract The present invention relates to a sensor-integrated smart sanitary pad for real-time detection of menstrual fluid absorption. The invention comprises a sanitary pad (100), a flexible resistive humidity sensing module (200), a reusable electronic processing module (300), a wireless receiver with a notification module (400) and a smartphone application (500). The flexible humidity sensing module (200) comprises a printed resistive sensor formed using a carbon based/polymer composite conductive ink deposited on a flexible substrate, wherein the sensor has a substantially U-shaped conductive path with electrical terminals (203) positioned on a common side for coupling with the reusable electronic processing module (300). During operation, menstrual fluid absorption causes humidity-induced resistance variation in the sensing module. The electronic processing module (300) processes the resistance variation and determines saturation levels based on predefined thresholds and transmits corresponding alerts to caregiver receiving devices.
