Abstract: ABSTRACT A smart safety companion system and method for emergency detection and alert notification using a smartphone are disclosed. The system comprises a user interface module for storing emergency contact information, a sensor monitoring module for acquiring accelerometer data, and an emergency detection module configured to identify abnormal shaking based on a predefined threshold. Upon detection of an emergency condition, a location retrieval module obtains current GPS coordinates and an orientation detection module determines device direction. An alert message generation module compiles emergency information, location, orientation, and timestamp data, and an alert transmission module automatically sends the generated alert to designated emergency contacts.
