MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099418 A) filed by Noida International University on August 17, 2026, for A Self-Sterilizing Intelligent Dressing Tray For Infection Prevention During Clinical Procedures.
Inventor includes Sayyad Sadab Ali.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an intelligent dressing tray that can be used for infection prevention during clinical procedures, which is self-sterilizing. The invention includes a tray body, a protective enclosure forming a sterilization chamber, a sterilization module, a control unit with a microcontroller for controlling the sterilization module, one or more sensor modules, a safety locking and interlock mechanism, a rechargeable power source, and an optional wireless communication module. The sterilization module will be set to disinfect suitable reusable medical instruments with one or multiple sterilization technologies, such as ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation, ozone or plasma sterilization. The control unit regulates the sterilization process in response to the sensor signals and the safety interlock mechanism ensures that no accidental exposure can occur. The invention may also be configured to send information about the sterilization status, operational information and usage logs to external monitoring equipment or a hospital information system via wireless communication and to synchronize the data when recharging the battery. The invention comprises a portable device comprising a storage cavity for storing medical instruments, an automatic sterilization system, a safety monitoring system and a communication system, which provides protection against cross-contamination, better control of infections, more efficient clinical workflows and safe reuse of compatible medical instruments in hospitals, clinics, emergency departments, ambulatory care centres and home healthcare environments.
