MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096066 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 08, 2026, for A Self-Modifying Digital Twin Framework For Predictive Failure Prevention In Decentralised Cyber- Physical Systems.

Inventor includes Dr. Siddharth Arora.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-modifying digital twin framework for predictive failure prevention in decentralized cyber-physical systems. The framework comprises distributed physical nodes, sensors, edge processing units, communication interfaces, and corresponding digital twin instances configured to continuously synchronize with real-time operational data. A prediction error detection mechanism compares predicted and actual system behaviour to generate feedback signals that autonomously modify the predictive logic without centralized retraining or manual intervention. The evolved predictive model continuously improves failure prediction accuracy and initiates preventive actions through control or actuation interfaces before failure occurs. The framework supports decentralized operation, heterogeneous assets, and partially observable environments while maintaining autonomous functionality under intermittent connectivity. By integrating error-driven evolution, node- level feedback, and embedded edge intelligence, the invention transforms conventional digital twins into adaptive, self-evolving preventive systems that enhance reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency across diverse industrial applications.
